The cricketers of yesteryear from the two leading Catholic institutions, St. Joseph’s and St. Peter’s will battle it out for the Garry Melder Memorial Trophy in a 25 over match to be played on October 2nd (Sunday) at the St. Peter’s College grounds, starting at 9.30 a.m.

Mr. Ranmore Martinez an ICC elite panel umpire who is an Old Peterite will be the Chief Guest and interestingly in a departure from the norm, he will also figure in the Peterite veterans team to take the field.

The two Rectors, Rev. Fr. Trevor Martin (SPC) and Rev. Fr. Travis Gabriel (SJC) will grace the occasion as the Guests of Honour.

Gary Melder a genial cricketer who captained the Josephians in 1973 met with an untimely death and Sri Lanka lost a fine schoolboy cricketer. This trophy was inaugurated in 2001 and the organisers hope that the present boys would improve their skills by witnessing top class past cricketers in action.
